Ssabi vs Booqable: which one fits your rental business?
Booqable is the budget end of rental software and one of the most reviewed products in the category, with an online store built in. This page is for the operator weighing it against Ssabi, so it says plainly where Booqable is ahead and where Ssabi is.
Ssabi and Booqable both run inventory, availability, quotes, and orders for rental businesses. Pick Booqable if you rent bikes, cameras, party gear, or equipment to consumers through an online store, if you want the cheapest published entry price, or if you want to sign up and start this afternoon. Pick Ssabi if you send gear and crews into the field for events, staging, or infrastructure work, if you run more than one warehouse, if jobs change after the customer signs, or if you want one flat monthly fee instead of a plan plus per-user add-ons.

Where Booqable is the better choice
The cheapest way in. Booqable's Start plan is USD 35 per month, or 29 billed yearly, with unlimited inventory and orders, no commission on bookings, and no setup fee. Nothing else in the category starts lower, and you can sign up without a card and be taking orders today. Ssabi has no self-serve trial and does not publish a number yet; every demo is run by the founder.
An online store built in. Booqable's website builder and online store let consumers browse your catalog, pick dates, and pay, which is the whole business for a bike, camera, costume, or party rental shop. Ssabi's portal lets customers review and sign quotes and pay invoices, but there is no storefront. If your customers shop rather than get quoted, Booqable is the better fit.
The reviews. Booqable cites more than a thousand public reviews, and for a small business buying software for the first time, that record is worth something. Ssabi is in early access and has no reviews to read yet. Say that plainly to yourself before you decide.
Where Ssabi is the better choice
More than one building. Booqable supports multiple locations only on its Scale plan and above, at USD 29 to 37 per extra location per month. Ssabi holds stock per warehouse, moves gear between buildings with transfers, nets availability per warehouse, and shows what your other buildings can spare when one is short. Gear on the road between your buildings counts at neither until it is checked in.
Change orders after the customer signs. When a client adds four units on Thursday for a Saturday show, you add a change order to the signed job with its reason. The signed quote stays intact, the change carries only the difference, the customer approves it the same way, and the final invoice picks it up. If the job got smaller, you issue a credit from the invoice.
Availability that counts everything. Ssabi nets availability per item and per date across confirmed bookings, holds, sub-rentals, out-of-service units, and transfers between your warehouses. Damaged and in-maintenance units come out of the count and sub-rented gear goes in, so the number you quote against is the real one.
The field and the floor. Crews, trucks, and gear are scheduled against real capacity. Crews get the day's plan, the job packet, pull sheets, photos, and messages on their phones, and site status flows back as they log it. Warehouse staff pick against pull sheets generated from the job, and a wall display shows the floor what is due out and due back today. Booqable does not describe crew scheduling.
Quote to cash for a business that bills by the day. Rental periods pro-rate, freight and labor are priced on every quote, and tax applies by rule or through your Avalara or TaxCloud account. Accepted quotes become orders, completed rentals become invoices, deposit then final, and the invoice and its payments go to QuickBooks without being typed again.
How the pricing models differ
Booqable prices by plan, with users included and more bought per seat. Start is USD 35 per month, or 29 billed yearly, with one user. Grow is USD 87, or 69 yearly, with six users, and adds e-signature and API access. Scale is USD 187, or 149 yearly, with eleven users and multi-location. Custom starts at USD 349. Extra users are USD 9 to 12 each per month, and the website builder, mobile point of sale, deliveries, and barcode scanning are separate add-ons. Yearly billing is cheaper on every plan, there is no commission on bookings, and there is no setup fee.
Ssabi prices by module and team size. One flat monthly fee covers the modules you use for the size of team you have. No per-booking fees, no percentage of your revenue, no long-term contract, and your data is exportable on request if you leave. The number is not published yet; it is scoped with you in the demo before you commit to anything.
For a one-location shop that rents to the public, Booqable's entry price is hard to argue with and this page will not try. For a business with two warehouses, a crew, and freight on every quote, add up the Scale plan, the locations, and the add-ons, then compare that total with a scoped Ssabi fee.
Who each one is built for
Booqable is built for rental businesses that sell online to consumers and small businesses: bikes, cameras, tools, party gear, costumes, and equipment rented by the day through a store. Its center of gravity is the storefront and the order.
Ssabi is equipment rental software for businesses that send gear into the field and bill for the days it is out: equipment rental firms, event and staging companies, logistics providers, and infrastructure operators who answer for every unit in the field. Its center of gravity is the job record that the office, the warehouse, and the crew all read.
Whichever system you leave, Ssabi's onboarding is built to avoid a standstill. Your data comes in with a row-level preview before anything is written, you run both systems side by side until the numbers match, and a named onboarding contact stays with you until you cut over.
Frequently asked questions
Is Ssabi a Booqable alternative?
Yes, for equipment rental, event, staging, and infrastructure businesses that send gear and crews into the field and bill by the day. It is not a replacement for Booqable if you rent to consumers through an online store.
Does Ssabi have an online store like Booqable?
No. Customers review and sign quotes and pay invoices online through Ssabi's portal, but Ssabi does not put a storefront on your website. Booqable's online store and website builder do.
Does Ssabi support multiple locations?
Yes. Stock is held per warehouse, gear moves between buildings with transfers, availability is netted per warehouse, and when one building is short you can see what the others can spare. Booqable offers multiple locations only on its Scale plan and above, per location.
Can Ssabi handle changes after a quote is signed?
Yes. You add a change order to the signed job with its reason. The signed quote stays intact, the change carries only the difference, the customer approves it the same way they approved the quote, and the totals and the final invoice pick up the change.
Can I move from Booqable to Ssabi without losing my data?
Your inventory, customers, rate cards, and open jobs come in through Ssabi's importer, which previews every row and writes nothing until you approve. Imported records keep their old numbers, and you run both systems in parallel until the numbers match.
