Where Current RMS is the better choice
Support and training in the price. Current RMS states that unlimited support and training are included, with no service agreement and no additional support cost. For a company that has never run rental software and expects to lean on the vendor for the first year, that is a real advantage. Ssabi gives early-access workspaces a named onboarding contact and hands-on migration, but it is a founder-run company in early access, not a support department.
Published per-user pricing and a trial today. The first user is USD 79 per month and each additional user is USD 49, published in five currencies, with a 30-day trial that needs no card. You can size the bill and try the product without a call. Ssabi runs every demo live with the founder and scopes the fee in the demo; there is no self-serve trial and the number is not published yet.
A mature AV and production toolset. Barcode tracking, flight case management, testing and maintenance records, a services calendar for labor and transport, and sub-hire have been in the product for years, and the integrations with Xero, QuickBooks, Adobe Sign, and MailChimp are established. Ssabi does not scan barcodes and does not keep test and maintenance records beyond marking a unit out of service.
One caution that cuts the other way: the product is mid-rename. Current RMS is becoming OnRent Events under Klipboard, the new name of its parent Kerridge Commercial Systems. The help center says the product, contacts, and processes stay the same. Confirm which name is on the contract and which roadmap you are buying.
Where Ssabi is the better choice
A fee that does not count users. Current RMS charges per user, so a company where the office, the warehouse lead, and the crew chiefs all need a login pays for each of them every month. Ssabi charges one flat monthly fee based on the modules you use and the size of your team, with no per-booking fees and no percentage of your revenue, and a busy month costs the same as a quiet one.
Change orders after the customer signs. When a client adds four units on Thursday for a Saturday show, you add a change order to the signed job with its reason. The signed quote stays intact, the change carries only the difference, the customer approves it the same way, and the final invoice picks it up. If the job got smaller, you issue a credit from the invoice.
Availability that counts everything, per warehouse. Ssabi nets availability per item and per date across confirmed bookings, holds, sub-rentals, out-of-service units, and transfers between your warehouses. Damaged and in-maintenance units come out of the count, sub-rented gear goes in, and gear on the road between your buildings counts at neither until it is checked in. When one building is short you can see what the others can spare.

Warehouse staff pick against pull sheets generated from the job, and a wall display shows the floor what is due out and due back today.
Six languages and your own record numbers. Ssabi runs in English, German, Spanish, French, Dutch, and Portuguese. Invoice and quote series continue where they left off, and imported records keep the numbers they had in your old system.
How the pricing models differ
Current RMS prices per user: USD 79 per month for the first user and USD 49 per month for each additional user, with equivalents in GBP, EUR, AUD, and ZAR, unlimited support and training included, and annual billing you can switch on from the billing settings. Three users is USD 177 a month; ten users is USD 520.
Ssabi prices by module and team size. One flat monthly fee covers the modules you use for the size of team you have. No per-booking fees, no percentage of your revenue, no long-term contract, and your data is exportable on request if you leave. The number is not published yet; it is scoped with you in the demo before you commit to anything.
The honest comparison is headcount. A two-person office will find the per-user price easy to live with. A company where a dozen people need to read or write the job should compare the per-user total with a scoped Ssabi fee.
