Where LASSO is the better choice
Crew is the business. LASSO began as a workforce platform and it shows: crew scheduling with availability, a talent database, time tracking, payroll processing, travel booking, and a marketplace for booking local labor in another city. If your company is mostly people and the equipment is the second concern, or if paying a large freelance crew correctly is the thing that keeps you up at night, LASSO does things Ssabi does not do at all. Ssabi schedules crews against real capacity and gives them an app, but it has no time tracking, no payroll, and no marketplace.
One vendor for labor and gear. LASSO has added inventory, gear orders, warehouse operations, logistics, quotes, invoices, and payments to the crew platform, so a production company can run both sides in one system. Ssabi covers the gear side and the money side deeply, and treats crew as a resource to schedule and inform rather than to pay.
Support you can name. LASSO describes a dedicated onboarding specialist, a customer success manager, and US-based support for every customer regardless of the modules chosen. Ssabi gives early-access workspaces a named onboarding contact and a direct line to the people building the product, which is a founder-run company in early access, not a support department.
Where Ssabi is the better choice
The equipment and the invoice are the center. Ssabi keeps what you own, what you have promised, where it is, and what it earned in one live record. Accepted quotes become orders, completed rentals become invoices, deposit then final, rental periods pro-rate, freight and labor are priced on every quote, tax applies by rule or through your Avalara or TaxCloud account, and the invoice and its payments go to QuickBooks without being typed again.
Availability that counts everything, per warehouse. Ssabi nets availability per item and per date across confirmed bookings, holds, sub-rentals, out-of-service units, and transfers between your warehouses. Damaged and in-maintenance units come out of the count, sub-rented gear goes in, and gear on the road between your buildings counts at neither until it is checked in. A conflict shows at quote time, not on load-out morning.
Change orders after the customer signs. When a client adds four units on Thursday for a Saturday show, you add a change order to the signed job with its reason. The signed quote stays intact, the change carries only the difference, the customer approves it the same way, and the final invoice picks it up. If the job got smaller, you issue a credit from the invoice.

Ssabi is equipment rental software for businesses that send gear into the field and bill for the days it is out: equipment rental firms, event and staging companies, logistics providers, and infrastructure operators who answer for every unit in the field. Its center of gravity is the job record that the office, the warehouse, and the crew all read.
Some companies will run both, LASSO for crew and payroll and Ssabi for gear and billing, and that is a reasonable answer for a production company with a large freelance bench. Whichever system you leave or keep, Ssabi's onboarding is built to avoid a standstill: your data comes in with a row-level preview before anything is written, and you run both systems side by side until the numbers match.
